Myths around Hemp

Various myths surround the use of Hemp. Many of us have believed for years that it is a narcotic product or psychoactive or even that it is the same as marijuana. Many of us who are more aware only know about the medicinal benefits of Hemp, but not the more every day, lifestyle, and nutritional benefits. And most of us have no knowledge about the several personal care benefits of Hemp.

There are numerous such myths surrounding Hemp that the internet is flooded with. Let’s get down to separating fact from fiction. What are the facts?

Hemp is not the same as marijuana

The two look and smell alike because they come from the same plant family (Cannabaceae). However, they differ vastly from each other. The structural and chemical compositions are different, as are the cultivation processes and usage.

Hemp is harvested with a very low level of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and has a variety of usage; nutritional products such as seed oil, seeds, protein powder, medicinal products, and even industrial products like paper, clothing and building materials.

It is not intoxicating

Another big misconception surrounding Hemp is that it will intoxicate you. This again is just a myth. The fact is that Hemp seed-based products contain no traces of cannabinoids. They are, therefore, not psychoactive and completely safe for consumption. It is also a known fact that while marijuana contains higher levels of THC, the chemical responsible for intoxication, these levels are almost zero in Hemp.

Hemp can’t be used for recreational use

It is almost impossible to use Hemp for recreational purposes due to its very low THC levels.

Cannabidiol doesn’t get you high

Hemp contains high cannabidiol (CBD) and very low THC. However, CBD is non-intoxicating and non-euphoric, so it will not get you high.

Hemp is a superfood, not just another healthy food

A nine thousand year old miracle plant, Hemp is now gaining wide acceptance as a superfood because of its exceptional nutritional value and the multiple ways it can be used as a beneficial food source. It is one of the best plant based proteins and the only one containing Edestin, a protein that gets easily absorbed by the human body. Rich in amino acids essential for human health, it is also an exceptionally rich source of the two essential fatty acids (Omega-3 and Omega-6 in golden ratio), vitamins, and useful minerals like vitamin E, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium manganese, and iron. This certainly makes it a superfood.

Hemp is more effective when taken in larger quantities

Just like any other superfood full of nutrition, Hemp should be used in moderation to see maximum benefits. Whether it’s drizzling it over your salad in the form of Hampa Hemp Seed Oil or adding it to your milkshake or smoothie in the form of a Hampa Protein Powder, just a couple of teaspoons is all you need!

Hemp is great nourishment for skin and hair

A lesser known fact about Hemp is that it is one of the best moisturizers in the world with its deeply nourishing, non-comedogenic (does not clog pores) and anti-inflammatory properties. It is rich, yet gets absorbed in skin and hair easily.

Hemp also contains unique Fatty acids which coupled with growth boosting proteins, essential vitamins, and natural anti-oxidants make Hemp a great one-stop solution for all kinds of skin and hair related problems.
